Berry Boozy & Merrily Mulled Wine

  • 2 x bottles red wine
  • 4 cups cloudy apple juice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 cups Berry Fresh berries such as raspberries, blackberries & blueberries.
  • 1 orange sliced thinly
  • Combine liquids: Pour the 2 bottles of red wine and 4 cups of apple juice into a large saucepan or Dutch oven.

  • Add spices: Stir in the 1/2 cup sugar, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 2 star anise.

  • Dissolve: Heat gently over medium-low, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  • Simmer berries: Add 2 cups of the berries and continue heating very gently for 15 minutes. Keep the heat low to avoid boiling off the alcohol.

  • Add citrus: Stir in the thinly sliced orange and continue to heat for another 5 minutes.

  • Serve and garnish: Serve warm in mugs or heat-safe glasses. Use the remaining 1 cup of fresh berries and the orange slices as a garnish for each cup.
